HD Hyundai Robotics, a robotics solutions provider under HD Hyundai, announced on November 2 that its Chief Technology Officer (CTO) delivered a keynote address at Palantir Technologies' Sovereignty Bootcamp, recently held in New York, U.S.
Palantir's Sovereignty Bootcamp is a program designed to help organizations protect their data and critical business information while exploring ways to strengthen business competitiveness through AI. Since its launch in July this year, the program has brought together approximately 450 executives from more than 250 global organizations and companies through its third edition.
HD Hyundai Robotics' participation is expected to mark an important step in its evolution beyond traditional robot manufacturing toward becoming an intelligent robotics solutions provider powered by AI and data. Its growing engagement with Palantir reflects a shared focus on addressing a fundamental industry challenge: how to make robots smarter and translate AI capabilities into measurable productivity gains in real-world industrial environments.
The keynote was delivered by Ahn Seong-hwan, Executive Vice President and CTO of HD Hyundai Robotics. He presented the company's strategy and vision for adopting Physical AI, while sharing updates and achievements from its ongoing collaboration with Palantir.
At the heart of the partnership is the transformation of work processes and the redefinition of field engineers' roles to accelerate the adoption of Physical AI in industrial operations.
Traditionally, experienced engineers have had to manually monitor robot movements on-site and repeatedly adjust work sequences, movement paths, and operating speeds. This experience-dependent approach has made it difficult to standardize processes and consistently replicate optimal results.
To address these challenges, the two companies are integrating AI, simulation, and human engineering expertise into a unified workflow. AI agents analyze existing robot programs and generate recommendations for improvement, while engineers review and refine these suggestions based on their practical knowledge and field experience.
The initiative also aims to redefine the role of field engineers. HD Hyundai Robotics plans to develop its field engineers beyond their traditional responsibilities in robot programming, installation, and commissioning, empowering them to become "field solution experts" who identify problems and implement optimal solutions using AI technologies.
Through this transformation, HD Hyundai Robotics expects to reduce robot programming costs by more than 50%. The companies have already demonstrated tangible results since introducing AI agents into their problem-solving processes in August. The average time required to resolve issues has been reduced from 21.5 days to 7.9 days, representing an approximately 63% improvement.
Going forward, the two companies plan to hold regular steering committee meetings involving key executives to discuss the direction and priorities of their collaborative initiatives. They will also continue to identify and develop practical use cases capable of delivering measurable business results.
